THE RETURN OF YOU MAY PLOW HERE is a campaign to raise $22,000 for the NEW EDITION of The Narrative of Sara Brooks to be published, with an essay and photographs, by The Fundamental Note in conjunction with the Museum of Authenticity. At a time when books by Black writers and books about Black history are being removed from library shelves and school curricula, and disinformation about the African American experience is being disseminated, the re-publication of YMPH could not be more relevant.

The Museum of Authenticity is thrilled to introduce GENUINE ENCOUNTERS, a quarterly series of events related to arts and culture with its SPRING 2023 schedule. Held in the Museum or the Museum Annex, events will typically be held on the third Thursday of the month, with additional events scheduled when possible for the first Thursday.

Please join founder/curator Thordis Niela Simonsen and featured artist, Bernice Strawn for an inaugural open house and artist reception at the Museum Friday 16 October, 3–7pm, Saturday 17 October, 10am–5pm, or Sunday 18 October, 11am–3pm.

Bernice will be at the Museum Friday 3–5pm, Saturday10–12am, and Sunday 11–12am.

21–24 June 2018: MUSEUM PREVIEW

The Museum of Authenticity Gatehouse temporarily opened to the public on 21 June 2018, the first day of Salida’s 26th annual Art Walk. The Museum opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting at 4:00 pm on Saturday, 23 June. The first exhibit, “Dances in Two Worlds,” opened for viewing, and the Museum Shop opened for purchases: books, graphic notecards, and prints. (Purchases can also be made at the Museum Shop on this website.)

The Museum of Authenticity Gatehouse closed to the public when the Museum main building opened on 16 October 2020 with he exhibit “Sum of the Parts.”
