Description
I created the original oil pastel #123 on 10 December 2005. It’s the 9th and final image in a series inspired by the house I restored in Elika, Greece, and the whitewashed chapel that sits above my house atop another, higher hill. I could see the chapel from inside my house until, after seven years of work, the roof finally went on. I believe that the two “houses” merged in my paintings. The path to my house has always felt very special to me, which no doubt explains, in part, why it is so prominent in the painting.
A group of framed paintings from this series makes a fine installation.
