Description
I created the original tempera painting #153 on 26 June 2010. I began by painting an underlayer of bright colors. Then I brushed on black paint [or was it india ink?] which I scratched through, while still wet, toward the bottom to reveal the base colors. Finally, I painted the tree. When I look at the results, I understand how intimately I have come to know the olive tree through years of admiring them, pruning them, and harvesting them.
I have translated this image into a monochromatic graphic design which is available on this site on notecard ts-01 tree #153 in 4 different colors. Larger-format prints of this graphic design, suitable for framing, are also available on request.
